About us
Chilcott Metal Products is a growing steel fabrication business specialising in the manufacture and installation of small structural steel packages. We're a hardworking, close-knit team that takes pride in delivering a high-quality service and building long-term relationships with our customers.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
The opportunity
This isn't a corporate project management role.
We're looking for someone with a background in steel fabrication who enjoys working with people just as much as solving technical problems. Ideally, you'll be looking to step away from full-time work on the tools and into a varied role where you can genuinely make a difference.
You'll become the link between our customers, CAD team, workshop and installation crews, taking ownership of projects from initial site survey through to completion.
Our aim is simple: we want someone we can trust to keep projects moving and deliver an excellent customer experience, even when the business owner is away.
Responsibilities
- Carry out customer site surveys.
- Meet with customers and act as the main point of contact throughout projects.
- Review fabrication drawings and coordinate with our CAD team.
- Create or refine simple SketchUp reference models where required.
- Coordinate work between the workshop and installation teams.
- Monitor project progress and solve issues before they become problems.
- Assist with invoicing and project administration.
- Work alongside our estimator on quotations when required.
About you
You'll ideally come from a fabrication, steelwork or installation background and understand how fabrication projects are delivered.
You don't need to know everything—we're happy to help the right person develop—but you should already have good technical knowledge and confidence reading fabrication drawings. Experience with CAD or SketchUp would be a real advantage.
More importantly, we're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable.
- An excellent communicator.
- Organised and proactive.
- Comfortable speaking with customers.
- Able to take ownership of their work.
- Keen to develop as part of a growing business.
What we offer
- Around £30 per hour.
- Flexible subcontract arrangement.
- A varied role where no two days are the same.
- Real responsibility and autonomy.
- A supportive, friendly team.
- The opportunity to play a key role in the future growth of the business.
If you're looking for the next step in your career and want to move into a role where you'll have genuine responsibility, we'd love to hear from you.
Please apply with your CV and a short introduction explaining your fabrication experience and why this role interests you.
Pay: £25.00-£35.00 per hour
