We are seeking a skilled IT Technician to join our dynamic IT support team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of hardware and software systems, ensuring seamless operation across our organisation. Duties
- Provide first-line and ongoing technical support to end users across all departments
- Act as the primary contact for logging, tracking, and resolving IT-related incidents and service requests
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner
- Escalate complex issues where necessary while maintaining ownership and communication with users
- Deliver clear guidance and training to users on systems, applications, and best practices
- Set up, configure, and deploy new laptops, desktops, and workstations, including software installation
- Proactively tidy and decommission old or unused systems, ensuring proper data handling, resetting and disposal
- Maintain and update operating systems, applications, drivers, and firmware across devices
- Ensure all IT equipment (laptops, PCs, printers, peripherals) is functioning optimally and kept up to date
- Support onboarding/offboarding processes including hardware provisioning and account setup
- Install and configure hardware and software components
- Set up and maintain workstation environments with necessary peripherals and network access
- Support printer configurations, connectivity, and troubleshooting
- Assist with network-related troubleshooting and connectivity issues
- Design, build, and maintain SharePoint sites and pages from scratch
- Manage and configure SharePoint permissions, access levels, and user groups
- Ensure SharePoint structure aligns with business requirements and information governance standards
- Provide guidance and support to users on SharePoint usage and collaboration features
- Maintain accurate asset registers, system documentation, and technical records
- Administer Active Directory accounts, permissions, and group policies to ensure security compliance.
- Support and contribute to ISO standards compliance (e.g., ISO 27001) and continuous improvement initiatives
- Follow and promote IT policies, security procedures, and best practices
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and the overall user experience
- Provide recommendations to reduce recurring technical issues
- Orchestrate and support Service Level Processes (SLP), ensuring tickets and incidents are handled within agreed timeframes
- Take ownership of the ticketing system alongside the external IT provider, ensuring effective prioritisation and timely resolution of all user issues.
- Monitor service performance, prioritisation, and resolution effectiveness
- Contribute to service reporting and continuous improvement of IT support processes
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across all departments
- Communicate technical information clearly and provide training to non-technical users
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors when required
- Support business initiatives involving IT systems and digital transformation
- Promote and support the use of MS Teams Planner across departments
Person Specification —
- Good academic qualifications, minimum 5 GSCEs including Maths and English.
- Previous experience in an IT Technician role or a related role.
- 1-2 years’ experience within a similar role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Expertise knowledge in MS 365, Teams, SharePoint, One Drive.
- MS Server build knowledge and hands on experience, 2016 – 2019
- Working knowledge of LAN & or WAN technologies
- Experience with Active Directory management and Group Policy administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Effectively work to deadline, multi-task and prioritise work efficiently
- Ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive office culture.
