Legacy Officer (Part-Time)

Job Purpose
Legacy gifts play a vital role in securing the future of the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity and ensuring exceptional palliative care remains available for generations to come.
The Legacy Officer will be responsible for the stewardship, administration and development of the Charity's Gifts in Wills programme. The postholder will manage legacy cases, nurture relationships with supporters, solicitors and executors, and support activities that encourage legacy giving. The role combines excellent supporter care with robust administration and compliance, ensuring every legacy gift is handled professionally, sensitively and in accordance with the donor's wishes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all notified legacy gifts from initial notification through to closure.
Work with the Marketing Team to develop case studies and promote why we need legacies and their impact.
Maintain an accurate portfolio of active legacy cases.
Liaise with solicitors, executors, co-beneficiaries and family representatives.
Review estate accounts and supporting documentation.
Deliver stewardship for legacy pledgers and supporters.
Leading Gifts in Wills campaigns, events and awareness activities.
Build relationships with local solicitors and professional advisers.
Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline and reporting.
Ensure compliance with GDPR, Charity Commission guidance and Code of Fundraising Practice.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience in fundraising, supporter care, administration or relationship management.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism.
- Good IT skills including CRM databases and Microsoft Office.
Desirable:
- Experience of legacy fundraising or administration.
- Understanding of probate and estate administration.
- Experience within the charity or hospice sector.

- Value of legacy income received.
- Number of legacy enquiries and pledges generated.
- Stewardship contacts completed.
- CRM accuracy and compliance.
