Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Groundworks Gang to join our construction team. This role involves assisting with foundational and site preparation activities, ensuring the smooth progression of building projects. The successful candidate will work under supervision to perform essential groundwork tasks, contributing to the safety and efficiency of our operations. Experience in mechanical tasks and commercial driving is advantageous, but full training will be provided for suitable applicants eager to learn.
Duties
- Assist with excavation, trenching, and site clearance activities using appropriate machinery and tools
- Operate excavators and other plant equipment safely and efficiently under supervision
- Support the laying of foundations, drainage, and other groundwork installations
- Help maintain a clean and organised work site, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Assist with loading and unloading materials using commercial vehicles and equipment
- Follow instructions from supervisors to ensure project deadlines are met
- Conduct routine checks on machinery and report any faults or issues promptly
Qualifications
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience working with plant machinery is desirable but not essential
- Valid driving licence for commercial vehicles is preferred
- Prior experience operating excavators or similar plant equipment is advantageous
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures on construction sites
- Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training as required
- Physical fitness to undertake manual tasks and work outdoors in various weather conditions
