Job Purpose:
The Logistics Supervisor owns the daily operation of the depot.
- Ensure the depot runs safely, compliantly, and efficiently every day
- Convert plans into execution
- Control resources: people, vehicles, time, space
- Identify problems early and escalate with solutions, not excuses
- Provide accurate, timely operational data to management
The Supervisor is personally accountable for the following outcomes during their shift / operating horizon:
Depot Performance
- All routes planned, staffed, and dispatched on time
- Warehouse flow matches transport requirements
- Work completed right first time where possible
- Operational disruptions identified and managed proactively
People
- Correct staffing levels per workload
- Timesheets and clocking's accurate
- Overtime justified, controlled, minimised
- Agency staff used only when completely necessary this should not be our go to option
Vehicles
- Vehicles compliant, roadworthy, serviced
- Damage identified, recorded, followed up
- Hire/de-hire decisions made based on volume and forecast
Compliance & Safety
- H&S compliance on site
- Manual handling standards
- Vehicle checks and depot checks
- DBS, DVLA, training status visibility (admin may support – ownership remains with Supervisor)
Standards & Discipline
- Housekeeping standards maintained daily
- Uniforms, PPE, and behaviour enforced
- Errors, non-conformance, and complaints logged and investigated
- Poor performance challenged early and documented
KPI Ownership & Reporting
- Daily KPI visibility
- Understanding why performance is where it is
- Explaining variance clearly and factually
They must report:
- What happened
- Why it happened
- What is being done to prevent repeat
Clear Line Between Supervisor and Manager
Supervisor Owns:
- Day-to-day execution
- Short-term planning (today / this week)
- Staff supervision
- Compliance on site
- Operational data accuracy
Manager Owns:
- Strategy and structure
- Headcount models
- Budget and cost control at macro level
- Performance management of Supervisors
- Long-term improvement and system changes
The Behavioural Standard

Skills/Qualifications:
· In-depth Knowledge of transport and warehouse operations with at least 2 years’ experience
· PC literate in WMS, Trafficking system, Word & Excel
Pay: £31,500.00 per year
