Full job description

Bridge is a peer support programme which links volunteers who may have recovered from alcohol and/or drug misuse with members who have, or who are recovering from serious substance misuse problems. Bridge also provides a range of activities, events and support and our outstanding teams include recovery workers who support our members to sustain their recovery, as well as staff who specialise in advice and guidance on benefits, housing and employment.

We are also proud to be a key partner within the Inspire: Alcohol & Drug Service.

We currently have a vacancy for a part time Recovery Worker at our Northampton Service. The role is for 23 hours over 3 or 4 days, but must include Mondays and Fridays. The successful candidate may have lived experience of addiction or will have experience of working with or supporting people who have difficulties associated with the misuse of drugs or alcohol. You will be motivated, enthusiastic, conscientious and creative, and will work closely with our team of volunteers and mentors to deliver the best outcomes for our members.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Provide emotional support and encouragement, fostering a safe and trusting environment.

· Support members to develop recovery plans tailored to their needs and personal goals.

· To provide support to individual members including organising daily and weekly activities in an environment that will aid their recovery and wellbeing.

· Work closely and cooperatively with colleagues and collaborate with external partners to ensure the ongoing support of our members.

· Always communicate effectively and professionally with members and colleagues in a person-centred, non-judgmental way.

· Manage safeguarding and risk matters with the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

· Administrative duties as required, including recording members’ progress, updating case notes accurately and confidentiality using the client database – Carepath.

Skills

· To understand substance misuse issues and the impact on the individuals and society.

· A Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to support vulnerable people.

· To work as part of a team and with a range of different organisations.

· Understand how to support members through life changes.

· Can communicate and engage with vulnerable people in a non-judgmental way.

· Strong organisation and time management skills.

· Empathy, patience and resilience are essential qualities for success in this role.

· Be open to learning from, and sharing your knowledge and experience with, your colleagues.
