Electrical Contracts Manager

Role Overview

An established M&E contractor is seeking to appoint an Electrical Contracts Manager to support the continued growth of its operations, particularly across projects in London and the wider UK market. This is a senior appointment with a clear pathway into a broader leadership role, with the successful individual expected to take increasing responsibility for the electrical function over time.

The role will involve full lifecycle ownership of electrical projects, from mobilisation through to completion, alongside the opportunity to contribute to commercial decision-making, client engagement, and future business growth. This position will suit an ambitious individual who is looking to progress beyond a traditional Contracts Manager role into a more strategic and leadership-focused position.

Key Responsibilities

Take full responsibility for the delivery of electrical projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
Manage multiple live projects, typically in the £5m–£10m range
Lead and coordinate site teams, including Site Managers, engineers, and subcontractors
Establish and build delivery teams on UK-based projects, particularly in London
Work closely with Bids and Pre-Construction teams to ensure a smooth transition from tender stage to project delivery
Review and challenge project costs, programmes, and risk positions prior to contract award
Maintain strong commercial control throughout project delivery, including variations, valuations, and cost reporting
Engage directly with clients, consultants, and main contractors at a senior level
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, with particular reference to NEC forms of contract
Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency, commercial performance, and client relationships
Contribute to the ongoing development of the electrical function, supporting its growth and structure

Person Specification

Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience within an M&E or building services environment
Proven experience managing electrical projects of significant scale and complexity
Strong technical understanding of electrical systems and installation practices
Demonstrable commercial awareness, including cost control, margin management, and contractual compliance
Experience working within UK project environments, ideally including London-based projects
Exposure to NEC forms of contract is desirable
Experience working closely with bid and pre-construction teams
Ability to build and manage high-performing site teams
Strong client-facing capability, with the confidence to engage at senior level
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities
Ambitious, with a clear desire to progress into a broader leadership role

Benefits

£6,000 annual car allowance
Full-time position with working hours of 8:00am–5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am–2:00pm Friday
31 days annual leave including public and bank holidays, increasing to 33 days after 2 years' service and 35 days after 5 years' service
Company pension scheme after 3 months' service with employer contributions matched up to 5%, increasing to up to 8% with length of service
Private healthcare scheme following successful completion of probation
Company life assurance scheme from commencement of employment
Flexibility required to work additional hours when necessary to meet business needs
