Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Yard Labourer to join our team. This role involves assisting with materials handling, loading and unloading goods, and supporting day to day operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be comfortable with heavy lifting, and possess basic mechanical knowledge. Previous experience in warehouse management systems, forklift operation, or construction is advantageous but not essential. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills including machinery operation (Fork-lift/360 crane)

Monday - Friday 7am - 4.30pm.

Responsibilities

Load and unload materials using manual handling techniques and forklift equipment where qualified
Assist with organising the yard, ensuring materials are stored safely and efficiently
Support shipping and receiving activities by preparing goods for dispatch or receipt
Perform general maintenance tasks around the yard to maintain safety standards
Support with construction or repair tasks as required, utilising basic mechanical knowledge
Ensure all health and safety protocols are adhered to during daily operations
Assist with the movement of heavy or bulky items across the site using appropriate equipment

Requirements

Previous yard experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for specific systems and equipment
Valid forklift licence is desirable but not essential; training can be provided for qualified candidates
Experience in materials handling, shipping & receiving, or construction environments is advantageous
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with warehouse management systems is a plus
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Physically fit with the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Pay: £12.71 per hour
