About the role
Balfour Beatty are currently recruiting a Skilled Operative to join our UKCS Living Places – Balvac specialist works team, delivering critical infrastructure repairs and specialist construction solutions across the UK.
This is a site‑based role working on a variety of infrastructure schemes, supporting the safe and high‑quality delivery of Balvac specialist works. You’ll play a hands-on role within site teams, contributing to the repair, protection and strengthening of key assets while upholding Balfour Beatty’s Zero Harm commitment at all times.
What you'll be doing
As a Skilled Operative, you will have the following accountabilities:
- Undertaking Balvac specialist site works, including structural and specialist repair activities.
- Carrying out structural repair, leak sealing and sprayed concrete works in line with approved methods and specifications.
- Working to programme requirements to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.
- Following all Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets, ensuring compliance with site procedures and processes.
- Promoting a strong safety culture on site and supporting behavioural safety initiatives.
- Taking responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others while working under the direction of Balvac Site Supervisors and Site Managers.
- Working collaboratively with supervisors, site teams, customers, supply chain partners and subcontractors to achieve project outcomes.
Who we're looking for
You will ideally have the following:
- Experience in structural repair and specialist repair works.
- Experience undertaking leak sealing and sprayed concrete works.
- Previous experience working on infrastructure schemes.
- A strong commitment to Zero Harm and safe working practices.
- A results‑driven mindset with pride in delivering work to a high standard of quality.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and building positive working relationships on site.
- A flexible, adaptable approach and willingness to learn new techniques and methods of repair.
