Full job description

We are currently seeking a Yard Labourer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the efficient and safe operation of our yard facility, working closely with colleagues to sort and grade railway sleepers/materials and carry out general yard duties.

Responsibilities:

Sorting, inspecting, and grading railway materials to required standards
Working as part of a team to maintain an organised, clean, and safe yard environment
Loading and unloading materials
Operating yard machinery, including forklifts and front-wheel loaders
Using a cross-cut saw (where certified)
Following all health and safety regulations and ensuring safe working practices
Supporting colleagues with various tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar yard, labouring, or timber-handling role is advantageous
Valid Front Wheel Loader and Forklift certificates (desirable)
Certificate to operate a Cross-Cut Saw (desirable)
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively
Good attention to detail, especially when sorting and grading materials
Physically fit, with the ability to lift heavy objects
Understanding of yard or industrial health and safety practices
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
