Weekend Restaurant Host / Receptionist (Summer Season)

Location: Pebble Beach, Barton on Sea

Position: Part-Time Weekend Host & Receptionist

Duration: Immediate start through to end of September

Rate of Pay: Competitive hourly rate + tips/tronc share

Are you a naturally warm, organized person who loves making people feel welcome?

As a busy coastal bar and restaurant, our weekends are legendary. From sunny Saturday afternoon terrace drinks to bustling Sunday family roasts, the magic starts at the door. We are looking for a vibrant, organized Weekend Host / Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our venue during our peak summer season.

If you thrive in a bustling atmosphere and pride yourself on keeping cool under pressure, this is the perfect summer weekend role for you.

The Role: What You’ll Be Doing

As our host, you are the first person our guests see when they arrive and the last person they chat with when they leave. Your day-to-day includes:

The Warmest Welcome: Greeting guests with a genuine smile, managing the front desk, and showing them to their tables.
Booking & Table Management: Using our digital reservation system to maximize seating capacity, handle walk-ins, and manage the outdoor terrace waitlist during peak rushes.
Answering the Phone: Handling incoming phone calls, managing table enquiries, and confirming weekend reservations.
Floor Communication: Working hand-in-hand with our supervisors and kitchen team to keep them updated on large tables or sudden arrivals so service runs smoothly.

What We Are Looking For:

You don't need a decade of hospitality experience, but you do need an exceptional attitude and a sharp mind.

The Personality: Naturally outgoing and hospitable. You genuinely enjoy interacting with people.
Organization Skills: The ability to juggle a busy phone line, a digital floor plan, and a physical queue of hungry guests without breaking a sweat.
Polished Communication: Great phone manners and the confidence to manage guest expectations gracefully if there is a wait for a table.
Tech Savvy: Comfortable using (or quickly learning) digital table-management software (e.g., OpenTable, Resy, or DesignMyNight).
Weekend Commitment: Absolute availability to work Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer season.
