Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our busy culinary team. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, ensuring smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for cleanliness, a positive attitude, and an interest in the hospitality industry. This position offers valuable experience in food preparation and kitchen operations within a dynamic setting.

Duties

Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to uphold hygiene standards
Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
Supporting the cleaning of kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas to maintain a safe working environment
Restocking supplies and ensuring all items are stored correctly and organised
Assisting chefs and kitchen staff during busy service periods as needed
Disposing of waste responsibly and ensuring recycling procedures are followed
Helping with general organisational tasks to support smooth kitchen operations

Skills

Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen environments is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and familiarity with restaurant or hotel settings is desirable
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
A proactive attitude with attention to detail in cleanliness and hygiene standards
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
Experience in hospitality or serving roles can be beneficial but is not mandatory
