Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Consultant in Acute Medicine to join our enthusiastic, supportive, and forward-thinking team. This is an excellent time to join our service as we continue to expand, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of Acute Medicine within the Trust. You will be joining a well-established team of 12 WTE Acute Medicine Consultants delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across a 42-bedded Acute Medical Unit (AMU), a Consultant-led Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service, and in-reach to the Emergency Department, with a rotational model across these areas.
Our service is underpinned by strong multidisciplinary working and close collaboration with specialty teams, including a 7-day cardiology chest pain in-reach service and an acute frailty service supporting referrals directly from ED and AMU. We also benefit from well-established 24/7 hyperacute stroke and primary PCI pathways with direct access, ensuring timely specialist care for our patients.
The post offers a 10 PA job plan (8 Direct Clinical Care and 2 Supporting Professional Activities) with flexibility by mutual agreement and participation in the general medicine on-call rota, incorporating a 1:8 weekend commitment with resident AMU ward rounds and non-resident on-call duties. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care within a robust clinical governance framework, contribute actively to multidisciplinary team working to improve patient flow and outcomes, and support teaching, training, audit, and service development initiatives. There will also be opportunities to contribute to postgraduate education, appraisal of junior staff, and the ongoing strategic development of the service alongside clinical leadership.
We offer a supportive working environment with excellent administrative and secretarial support, dedicated office space, and a strong commitment to professional development and continuous improvement. A competitive relocation package is available for eligible candidates. Prospective applicants are warmly encouraged to visit the department to experience first-hand the collaborative culture and opportunities available within our Acute Medicine team.
