About Us

We are a Cornwall-based plant hire company supplying generators, honey wagons, welfare units, and specialist equipment to the TV, film, and events industry. Due to increasing demand, we are looking for a reliable, flexible, and experienced individual to join our team on a self-employed basis.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys a varied workload, combining yard operations, driving, equipment maintenance, and mechanical repairs.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the yard, transporting equipment to and from film and TV locations, and ensuring all equipment is maintained to a high standard and ready for deployment.

As productions often operate outside standard working hours, flexibility is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Managing and maintaining the hire yard.
Delivering and collecting generators, honey wagons, and other hire equipment.
Driving trucks and towing trailers safely and professionally.
Loading, unloading, securing, and preparing equipment for transport.
Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs.
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on generators and plant equipment.
Performing basic electrical fault finding and repairs on generators and associated equipment.
Ensuring all equipment is clean, safe, and production-ready.
Completing pre-hire and post-hire inspections.
Maintaining service records and reporting any major faults.
Supporting film and TV productions with equipment setup when required.

Essential Requirements

Must be based in Cornwall.
Full UK driving licence.
Experience driving trucks and towing trailers.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to service and repair equipment independently.
Experience working on generators, plant machinery, honey wagons, or similar equipment.
Basic electrical knowledge and fault-finding ability.
Ability to work independently and use initiative.
Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and early starts when required by productions.
Reliable, professional, and able to work under pressure.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

HGV licence.
Plant operator tickets or relevant certifications.
Electrical qualifications.
Experience working within the TV, film, events, construction, or plant hire industries.
Generator servicing and maintenance experience.
Experience working on location-based projects.
