The Role:
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Deputy Café Manager to support our Café Manager in delivering outstanding customer service and smooth café operations. This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead by example, supervise a friendly team, and help maintain Bucca’s high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Operations:
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
- Assist with preparation, presentation, and service of food and drinks.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming café environment.
- Manage queues and support positive customer flow.
- Upsell Bucca products to enhance the customer experience.
Team Support & Supervision:
- Motivate and guide café assistants during shifts.
- Act as the main point of contact for staff in the absence of the Café Manager.
- Assist with staff induction, training, and ongoing development.
- Support shift organisation and cover rota gaps when needed.
Knowledge & Standards:
- Maintain excellent menu knowledge, including allergens and dietary requirements.
- Ensure Bucca’s standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene are met.
- Work in line with operating procedures and company policies.
Stock, Cash & Compliance:
- Assist with stock control, rotation, and ordering.
- Support cash handling, opening/closing procedures, and compliance paperwork.
- Report any stock shortages, discrepancies, or operational issues.
Customer Feedback & Problem Solving:
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally.
- Escalate issues to the Café Manager or management as needed.
- Contribute ideas to improve service, efficiency, and standards.
General Responsibilities:
- Support the Café Manager in maintaining high café standards.
- Assist with additional tasks to meet operational needs.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous café, hospitality, or retail supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Barista skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Flexible, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
