Quality Assurance Technician
Location: Lochore, Fife
Hours: Full-time, permanent (9am - 5pm with flexibility)
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000, negotiable, dependent on experience
Help shape the future of one of Scotland's best-loved family bakeries.
At Bayne's, we're proud of our heritage, our products, and the people who make them. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Quality Assurance Technician who can help us maintain and continuously improve the high standards our customers have come to expect.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to spend their day ticking boxes or maintaining the status quo. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, spotting opportunities for improvement, and helping colleagues understand the important role they play in food safety and quality.
You'll be a visible presence across our bakery, supporting teams, monitoring standards, investigating issues, and helping to create a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility. Success in this role will come as much from your ability to build positive relationships and influence behaviours as it will from your technical knowledge.
No two days will be the same. One day you could be carrying out quality audits, investigating customer complaints, or conducting environmental monitoring. The next, you'll be supporting production teams, coaching colleagues on best practice, or helping prepare the site for customer and third-party audits.
What you'll be doing
- Monitoring product quality and manufacturing processes to ensure standards are consistently achieved.
- Carrying out GMP, hygiene, food safety and compliance audits across the bakery.
- Supporting colleagues across production, despatch and transport teams to improve food safety and quality practices.
- Conducting environmental monitoring, ATP testing and microbiological sampling programmes.
- Investigating customer complaints and supporting root cause analysis activities.
- Monitoring critical control points, temperatures and food safety systems.
- Maintaining accurate quality records, specifications and documentation.
- Supporting HACCP reviews, site compliance activities and audit preparation.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, standards and ways of working.
- Helping to promote a positive culture of food safety, quality and continuous improvement throughout the business.
What we're looking for
You'll be a food manufacturing professional who enjoys being hands-on, working closely with people, and making a real difference to product quality and food safety.
You'll be comfortable challenging poor practices constructively, asking questions, and supporting colleagues to understand not just what needs to be done, but why it matters.
Most importantly, you'll take pride in maintaining high standards and be excited by the opportunity to contribute to the future success of a growing Scottish family business.
If you're looking for a role where you can develop your technical skills, influence positive change, and play an important part in delivering quality products to our customers every day, we'd love to hear from you.
At Bayne's the Family Bakers, we understand that our success hinges on the strength of our colleagues. That's why we're dedicated to cultivating an environment where every individual is valued, respected, and empowered. We are committed to the fair treatment of colleagues, potential colleagues and our customers regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, responsibilities for dependents, age, physical/mental health or offending background.
