Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Dog Walker and Pet Sitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional care and exercise for dogs of various breeds and sizes. The role also includes pop-in visits to care for a variety of pets, ensuring their comfort, safety and wellbeing. This role offers an excellent opportunity for animal lovers to work outdoors, ensuring the well-being and happiness of our clients while delivering friendly and professional customer service.

Duties

Take dogs on scheduled walks, ensuring they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation
Monitor dogs during walks to ensure safety and behaviour management
Provide basic animal care, including feeding, watering, toilet breaks
Carry out pop-in visits for a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, small mammals and reptiles.
Clean toilet and housing areas, cages, litter trays and enclosures to maintain hygiene standards.
Maintain a clean and safe environment during walks, including picking up waste and checking for hazards
Ensure pets are safe, comfortable and cared for in owner's home.
Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pet's behaviour, health, and any concerns
Uphold company policies on animal handling and safety procedures at all times

Skills

Previous animal care background is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
Strong passion for animal welfare and understanding of canine and animal behaviour
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
Ability to handle dogs of different sizes and temperaments confidently and safely
Physical fitness to manage walking multiple dogs over extended periods, including the ability to perform some heavy lifting when necessary
Reliable, punctual, and organised with a keen eye for detail to ensure the safety and comfort of the animals in your care
Trustworthy and responsible with access to customer keys and homes
Enhanced DBS check preferred or willingness to undergo a DBS check
Full UK driving licence and own reliable vehicle required
Must be aged 18 or over
Canine first aid qualification preferred or willingness to complete training
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while travelling between visits

Job Types: Part-time, Freelance, Zero hours contract

Pay: £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 15.0 per week
