An opportunity has arisen to join our close knit, outstanding setting. We provide high quality provision for 2-4 year olds and have an excellent reputation with an Ofsted Outstanding status. Due to an increase in child numbers, we are looking to recruit a experienced early years practitioner. The successful candidate will be qualified to at least L3 or higher and remuneration will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary provided in this advert is the current Level 3 hourly rate. Salaries are reviewed yearly.
We are looking for the successful candidate to start in September but welcome applications from anyone able to start sooner.
We are a charity run pre-school set in the heart of rural North Yorkshire. We have very close links with our neighbour Osmotherley Primary School. The pre-school is lead by senior management and overseen by a committee of trustees (parents and volunteers).
The pre-school offers wraparound care for our children and the primary children. This means the successful candidate may be required to work breakfast clubs from 8am and/or afterschool clubs until 5.30pm. The post is part time and days and hours will be agreed with the successful candidate. All staff hours are reviewed termly depending on numbers of children and demand.
You will be required to be flexible as you may need to work more hours to cover staff illness, and as we become busy as the year goes on.
We are a term time setting and you will be paid based on hours worked each month. Holidays are paid during relevant school holidays. We also offer holiday clubs which you will be expected to cover. These are currently Wednesdays and Thursdays during school holidays (except Christmas)
You will be responsible for providing a nurturing environment supporting children's physical and emotional development, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in their care. A strong passion for working with children and a background in childcare or nursery experience are essential. The position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on children's early learning experiences within a supportive team.
We love to get outside and spend time in the community with our Welly Wednesday walks, Forest School sessions, yoga, community visits and walks to the library bus.

Our children would like someone who:
- Will create a fun and effective learning environment that promotes curiosity, exploration, and creativity through play.
- Will put the children's needs first and enjoys spending time outdoors.
- Knows about the curriculum and the best way to extend children's learning in accordance with the EYFS.
- Will assist in delivering high quality early years provision that is appropriate to the ages/stages of child development
- Will actively promote the high profile of the setting and to uphold its reputation at all times
- Will assist with the implementation of daily routines and to be an effective team member in order to maintain a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment
- Has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
- Is patient, empathetic and able to build positive relationships with children and their families.
- Is able to be flexible and adaptable to meet the individual needs of each child, using a person-centred approach.
Main Duties:
- To ensure all setting policies and procedures are implemented and understand your role and responsibilities regarding them
- To be an excellent role-model, be aware of your own well-being and comply with the setting’s Health and Safety policy
- Create a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow
- Provide personal care and support to children, including feeding, changing, and assisting with toilet training
- Support children with additional needs or challenging behaviour, implementing consistent strategies as needed in partnership with parents
- To listen to, encourage, motivate and ensure the safe keeping of all children, as well as your own key children, in order to provide a safe, clean, tidy and stimulating environment, both indoors and outdoors. This includes the daily domestic management of nappy changing, snack preparation, washing/cleaning equipment and resources.
- To communicate with parents/carers/visitors to the setting in a calm, friendly and professional manner
- To respect confidentiality within and outside the setting at all times; this includes all information regarding children, parents/extended family, staff and committee
- To carry out regular observations and listenings and maintain accurate, up-to-date records for your key children, including using class dojo for observations; also contribute to other children’s records and share information with all key persons to inform future planning
- To assist with transitions (this may involve home visits or visits to other settings), Ofsted inspections, trips and outings, Christmas party/concert
- To participate in regular supervision, appraisal and team meetings and attend relevant training/cpd opportunities – these will be paid
- To attend committee meetings as required – this is on a voluntary basis i.e unpaid
- To assist with administration/invoicing as required
