Experienced Tarmac Operative

Kennford Tarmacadam Ltd is a family-owned and operated business and one of the leading highway maintenance contractors in Devon. We are looking for an experienced Surfacing Operative to join our growing team working on highway and surfacing projects across Devon.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and reliable operative who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and wants to develop their career within a supportive and professional team. Transport will be provided.

Full-time Employee (PAYE)
Permanent

Pay

From £16.80 per hour
Guaranteed 10 hours pay per day
Weekly Pay
Overtime available
Night shifts paid at enhanced rates

Location

All work located within Devon
No long-distance working away from home

Responsibilities

You will be involved in all aspects of surfacing and highway maintenance works, including:

Site Preparation

Joint cutting
Breaking out
Adjusting ironwork
Preparing surfaces for surfacing operations
Maintaining a safe and tidy work area

Surfacing Operations

Shovelling and spreading asphalt materials
Rolling and compacting materials to specification
Working safely and efficiently around paving machines
Assisting with machine-laid and occasional hand-laid surfacing works
Supporting the crew to deliver high-quality finished surfaces

Essential Requirements

Blue Skilled Worker CSCS Card (preferred)
Previous surfacing experience
Good understanding of safe working practices on highways and construction sites
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions

Desirable Skills

Experience operating additional plant and machinery
NPORS plant qualifications
Street Works (NRSWA) qualifications
Experience within highway maintenance projects
