Surf Life Saving GB is looking for a Membership Officer to support our members, clubs and volunteers across the UK. Membership is at the heart of the SLSGB community, connecting people who share a passion for saving lives, developing skills and creating safer communities around our coasts and waterways.
Role: Membership Officer
Contract: Permanent, part-time (0.5 FTE)
Salary: £24,000 FTE
Place of Work: SLSGB HQ, Exeter, Devon.
Working Pattern: Hybrid working, split between home and the Exeter office. Exact hours to be agreed. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support meetings, competitions and events, with TOIL or paid overtime available.

Surf Life Saving GB (SLSGB) exists to keep people safe on our coasts and waterways, uniting communities to save lives. With over 11,000 members nationwide and clubs from Aberdeen to St Ives, we support lifesaving sport, education, community engagement and volunteer development across the UK.

As Membership Officer, you will help ensure that every member feels supported, informed and connected to the wider Surf Life Saving community. You will be the friendly and professional first point of contact for members and clubs, helping them access the services, information and support they need.
Behind every qualification gained, every competition entered and every volunteer who gives their time to support others, there is a strong membership network making it all possible. Through excellent administration, communication and service delivery, you will help strengthen that network and support the continued growth of Surf Life Saving GB.
Role Purpose
The Membership Officer reports to the Membership Manager and is responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration and coordination of membership services and operational activities across Surf Life Saving Great Britain.
The role acts as a key point of contact for members, club officers, volunteers and stakeholders, ensuring enquiries are handled efficiently, professionally and with a high standard of customer service.
Working closely with the Membership Manager and wider staff team, the Membership Officer will support membership administration, communications, meetings, events and organisational processes. They will help maintain accurate records, support member engagement, and contribute to the smooth and effective operation of the organisation.

Selection Process
We are committed to recruiting the best person for the role based on skills, behaviours and potential.
Candidates shortlisted for interview will be asked to complete a series of practical exercises designed to assess the skills required for the role. These may include written communication, administration, prioritisation, problem solving and customer service scenarios, alongside a competency-based interview.
