Are you enthusiastic, organised, and motivated to support the democratic process? We are looking for a capable and confident individual to join our Electoral Services team at South Hams.
In this role, you will provide accurate administrative support, helping to maintain the Register of Electors and assist with the delivery of elections and referendums.
The post holder’s hours will increase to full time during periods of peak electoral activity to ensure statutory deadlines are met.
You will play a key role in ensuring electoral services are delivered efficiently, in line with legislative requirements, and remain open, transparent and accessible to the public and stakeholders.
To succeed in this varied and demanding role, you will:

Be an effective administrator with strong organisational skills
- Be able to work under pressure and meet strict statutory deadlines
- Demonstrate excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Be IT literate and a confident communicator
- Maintain political impartiality and confidentiality at all times
The role will be based at Follaton House, Totnes, with occasional homeworking opportunities. You may also be required to work from our Tavistock office at Kilworthy Park.
During election and canvassing periods, you may be required to work extended hours, including evenings (and overnight verification/counting), weekends and Bank Holidays, to meet service needs. The role also involves lifting and carrying ballot boxes and other equipment across council sites.
