Engineer – Control & Instrumentation (EC&I)
Pay: £19.23–£21.63/hr + 15% shift allowance
Shift Pattern: 11.5-hour shifts (5 on/5 off, 4 on/4 off)
Location: Hemerdon Mine, PL7 5BS
Overview
Tungsten West plc is restarting the Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin mine in South Devon. We are seeking an EC&I to support maintenance, commissioning, and plant reliability through rebuild, ramp-up, and production phases.
Requirements
- Based at Hemerdon Mine, ~10 miles northeast of Plymouth. No public transport to site. Own vehicle essential.
- NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation
- Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance experience
- Strong fault-finding skills on electrical & control systems
- Knowledge of PLC/SCADA, 3-phase systems, VSD/DOL starters
- Understanding of safe systems of work and permit procedures
- 18th Edition (desirable), 2391 testing & inspection (desirable)
- Experience in mining, quarrying, or heavy industry preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Fault find on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
- Work with PLCs, SCADA, VSDs, motors, and control systems
- Use P&IDs and electrical drawings to diagnose plant issues
- Perform calibration, testing, inspection, and defect reporting
- Support safe isolation, permits to work, and risk assessments
- Assist mechanical teams and external contractors
- Maintain site electrical systems (power, lighting, control)
