Langage Farm is looking to recruit a Low Risk Area Team Leader. This role is based at our family-run creamery near Plymouth and offers the opportunity to join a friendly, dedicated team.
You will report directly to the Production Manager and will be responsible for leading the Mix and Separation team in a hands-on capacity. As well as supervising the team, you will actively be involved in the day-to-day production of bulk mixes for packing in other areas of the factory and in the separation of raw milk into cream and skimmed milk. You will ensure all processes operate efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment, with team members reporting directly to you.
The role averages 40 hours per week, with shifts of approximately 8 hours. There are three shift patterns: 07:00–15:30, 10:00–18:30, and 14:00–22:30. These operate on a rolling rota shared between four team members. The rota includes working every other Sunday, with the preceding Friday scheduled as a day off.
Your starting rate of pay will be £14.25 per hour. During your initial training period, you will learn the processes within the area and complete an introduction to food hygiene. You will then be trained in both the mixing and separation processes, gaining a full understanding of how we produce our products and separate raw milk into cream and skimmed milk.
As you progress, you will also be expected to develop and demonstrate strong team leader skills, supporting, guiding, and coordinating the team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
As you build competence and confidence in both the technical and leadership aspects of the role, you will move through incremental pay increases, reaching a final rate of £16.30 per hour. You can expect to achieve this rate within 6 to 12 months of joining, depending on your aptitude and performance.
As a company, we are committed to supporting your ongoing development and will provide opportunities to gain qualifications in HACCP, Food Safety, and Health and Safety.
The successful candidate will be a strong team player, hardworking, and willing to learn new skills. Ideally, you will already hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate; however, this is not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidate.
