Start Date: 1September 2026 or sooner if available, depending on pre-employment checks
Hours: 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday, Term Time only (including inset days) plus 2 additional weeks (41 working weeks, plus pro rata holiday allowance of 6.17 weeks)
Salary: £25,399 - £27,213 actual (£28,000 - £30,000 FTE) depending on experienceor national rate for apprentices

About the role
The HR team at Avonbourne is expanding and this is a fantastic opportunity to join a large Outstanding secondary school as HR Administrator or HR Apprentice, supporting the team to deliver a high quality HR service across the Academies.
This role is ideally suited to someone who is either already working as an HR Administrator but looking for that next step in a different sector, an experienced administrator looking to move into HR or a school or college leaver looking to start a professional career.
This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, gaining a nationally recognised Level 3 CIPD qualification alongside real, hands-on experience in Human Resources. You will be mentored by an experienced HR Manager, supporting the day-to-day running of a busy HR function in a large secondary school.
Key Responsibilities

Supporting the day-to-day HR administration across the school
- Assisting with recruitment and onboarding
- Helping to maintain the Single Central Register
- Assisting with payroll preparation and processing
- Maintaining accurate personnel records and HR systems
- Responding to staff queries in a timely and professional manner
About you
The successful candidate will:

have strong organisational and administrative skills
- demonstrate excellent communication skills
- be highly organised, detail-focused, and able to prioritise effectively
- good IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
- be a positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- is flexible, and committed to supporting the wider life of the school
- previous HR or administrative experience (desirable but not essential)
