Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant to join our busy culinary team. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff in delivering excellent service. The position offers valuable experience within the hospitality industry, suitable for those looking to develop their skills in food preparation and kitchen operations. All roles are paid, ensuring fair compensation for your contributions.

Duties

Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and assembling ingredients
Support chefs with cooking and plating as needed, following health and safety standards
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils
Ensure all work surfaces are sanitised regularly to meet hygiene regulations
Restock supplies and organise storage areas to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Dispose of waste responsibly and recycle where possible
Support the team during busy periods by helping with serving and customer service when required
Follow all health and safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe working environment

Skills

Previous experience in food preparation or working within a restaurant or hotel environment is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
Basic knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene standards
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary operations and hospitality services
Strong team player with excellent communication skills
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the kitchen setting
