Full job description

HGV Class 2 + HIAB Driver covering Edinburgh & Livingston Branches

You will be responsible for deliveries of building and timber materials to residential addresses and building sites so someone who is confident of negotiating difficult terrain is essential. We really need someone who can stay calm, resolve problems where possible and ultimately ask for help when problems do arise without becoming stressed and risking accidents. Salary dependent on experience and age.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Carry out driving & related duties involved with the carriage of goods. Ensuring driving is carried out in a safe & efficient manner, in full compliance with road traffic regulations.

· To oversee the safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises, ensuring Proofs of Delivery are returned without delay.

· To check the load security & weight distribution according to latest safe working practices before setting out & after each drop.

· As required, & appropriately trained, works mobile equipment to load &/or unload vehicles.

· Follows best practices for fuel efficient driving.

· Actively takes responsibility for keeping vehicle clean & tidy.

· Is proactive in identifying potential health & safety hazards in the workplace.

· Ensures vehicles are in safe condition, with daily checks correctly completed before use, & are operated in a safe manner.

Relevant skills / Experience

· Ideally someone with experience within the builder/timber merchants’ sector

· Experience preferred in Multi drop using Hi-Ab or Moffett

· Hard working, and positive attitude

· Good attention to detail.

· Used to working in a flexible, team environment.

· HGV driving skills (& licensed to the appropriate vehicle class).

· Able to read written instructions.

Experience:

· Multi drop using a Hi-Ab / Moffett

· Minimum 2 years HGV Class 2 Driving experience

· Minimum of 6 months HIAB experience within the past 3 years

· Up to date Driver CPC & digital Tachograph cards
