Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Labourer to support a range of construction activities, including brickwork, groundworks, and general building tasks. The successful candidate will assist tradespeople, maintain a safe and organised working environment, and contribute to the successful completion of projects to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist bricklayers with day-to-day tasks including mixing mortar, preparing materials, loading out bricks/blocks, and keeping work areas clean and tidy.
- Carry out general groundworks duties including digging, trenching, drainage work, concreting, kerbing, and preparation of foundations.
- Support general building works including demolition, repairs, loading/unloading materials, and site preparation.
- Operate basic hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Move, handle, and store building materials around site.
- Prepare and maintain work areas to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Assist skilled tradespeople with construction tasks as required.
- Follow instructions from site supervisors and work as part of a team.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are used correctly and looked after.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience working on construction sites.
- Basic knowledge of brickwork, groundworks, and general building practices.
- Ability to carry out manual labour and work outdoors in all conditions.
- Good understanding of site health and safety.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- CSCS card.
- Experience assisting bricklayers or groundworkers.
- Experience using small plant or construction equipment.
- Full driving licence.
