Company Overview

We are a small, family-run care home group operating 3 care homes and are looking for a reliable, practical and hands-on individual to support us across our sites.

Summary

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in keeping premises well presented, and is happy to turn their hand to general support tasks when needed.

The role will mainly involve gardening, grounds maintenance and external presentation, with some light handyman, maintenance support and driving duties as required.

We already have an established Maintenance Team in place, so this role is intended to support and complement the existing team, rather than replace or duplicate their responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities

Gardening & Grounds

General gardening and upkeep of outdoor areas
Grass-cutting, hedge cutting, weeding, planting and seasonal maintenance
Keeping paths, entrances, car parks and outdoor areas tidy and presentable
Jet washing, sweeping, leaf clearance and general external cleaning
Ensuring garden areas are safe, attractive and suitable for residents, visitors and staff
Supporting with seasonal tasks such as gritting, snow clearance and storm-related clean-up where required

Light Maintenance Support

Assisting the existing Maintenance Team with basic practical tasks
Minor repairs and general handyman duties where appropriate
Moving furniture, equipment and supplies between areas or sites
Reporting any defects, hazards or safety concerns to management
Helping to ensure the homes remain well-maintained, safe and presentable

Driving and General Support

Driving between the three care homes as required
Collecting or delivering supplies, equipment or documents
Supporting with ad hoc errands for the homes
assisting managers with practical day to day site support

The Person we are Looking For

The IDeal Candidate will be:

Reliable, trustworthy and punctual
Practical, hands-on and able to work independently
Comfortable working across more than one site
Respectful and considerate when working in a care home environment
Able to communicate well with managers, staff, residents and visitors
Flexible and willing to help where needed
Proud of their work and attentive to presentation and detail

Requirements

Previous gardening, grounds-keeping, maintenance or handyman experience preferred
Full UK driving licence required
Own transport preferred
Ability to work safely and sensibly around elderly residents and care home environments
Full Enhanced DBS Check will be required
Basic knowledge of tools, gardening equipment and safe working practices

Hours can be discussed depending on the candidates availability and experience. The role may suit someone looking for a regular part-time position, flexible hours, or a practical all-round role across several sites.
