Business Development Manager - Private Sector

Are you a natural salesperson who enjoys building relationships, creating opportunities and winning new business?

Miller Knight are a multi-discipline Principal Contractor delivering complex fire remediation and refurbishment projects across the UK.

Trusted by some of the country's biggest names across property, construction, hospitality, facilities management and investment, we have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, high-stakes projects.

Due to continued growth, we're looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to join our team and help take our private sector growth to the next level.

This is not a traditional account management role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being proactive — identifying opportunities, opening doors, building relationships and converting opportunities into successful projects.

You’ll have the backing of an established business, strong case studies, an excellent delivery reputation and support from senior leadership, alongside the opportunity to make a genuine impact on our continued growth.

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing new private sector opportunities, managing relationships and supporting the growth of Miller Knight’s client base.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Identifying and developing new business opportunities across private sector markets including property management, commercial landlords, developers, investors, hospitality and other organisations.
Building strong relationships with key decision makers and influencers.
Generating opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, LinkedIn, industry events and face-to-face meetings.
Managing and progressing opportunities from initial conversation through to successful handover.
Working with inbound enquiries and tender opportunities, qualifying requirements and maximising conversion.
Gathering market intelligence and identifying upcoming projects.
Working closely with our estimating, pre-construction and delivery teams to ensure opportunities are effectively developed.
Maintaining accurate CRM records and providing regular pipeline updates.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

A confident communicator who can build rapport quickly and develop long-term relationships.
Experienced in Business Development, Sales, Recruitment, Account Management or another client-facing role.
Commercially driven with a proven ability to identify and convert opportunities.
Resilient, self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of your own results.
Confident speaking with senior stakeholders and decision makers.
Organised with strong attention to detail and comfortable using CRM systems.
Professionally presented and confident attending meetings, networking events and site visits.
Comfortable travelling across the UK.
