Project Engineer
Due to continued business expansion, Sentinel Data Solutions are looking for a dynamic team player to be part of the growth of our project team, based from our offices in Ringwood, Hampshire.
We are looking for candidates with experience working within an MSP environment who have advanced skills in networking, server support and wireless technologies. The candidate will be primarily working on their own with support from the senior project team and the Sentinel support desk.

Sentinel is a fast-growing, innovative provider of managed IT services. Primarily working with SMEs across Southern England, Sentinel offers a range of solutions including hosted desktop, hosted email, IT support, connectivity, infrastructure, and cyber security.
About the Role:
The candidate will be responsible for delivering dynamic and reactive single day projects, configuring and installing network hardware, configuring new users, delivering MS365 solutions and overseeing data migrations. In addition the candidate will be a point of escalation for some customer ‘service requests.
The role will also encompass the ongoing maintenance of Sentinel’s Microsoft Server Architecture and the management and support of the company's cloud and on premise core services and infrastructure covering Microsoft M365, computers (both cloud and laptops/desktops), storage and networking. This will involve ensuring that the environments are effectively managed, both in terms of up-time and capacity management.
The candidate will have experience in a broad range of technologies, both in the cloud and on premise, covering core services like cabling, networking, (VLANs), MS365, ERP and will have experience of rapid deployment and agile approaches. They will be highly motivated, with a desire to gain exposure to the very latest in business enabling technologies.
Ideally the candidate will have worked in a technical project role for over 3 years in a project driven environment and are looking for a pivotal and challenging role in a cloud first business.
This role is based in Ringwood but you will be required to attend sites as required to address customer needs and agreed service levels.
Role and Responsibilities:
The role will include the following:
- Delivering single day projects and providing support on escalated tickets from the support desk.
- Managing your schedule day to day to ensure project deadlines are met while continuing to assist with service requests and act as a point of escalation for the support desk.
- Managing the life cycle of a project to ensure that the customer receives an excellent experience.
- Set up, renewing and deployment of new and existing customer hardware.
- Attending site to resolve reported issues, install hardware and appropriate cabling.
- Providing advanced support in networking, infrastructure and Wi-Fi.
- Escalation of cases when required.
- Updating of all support case information as required on a timely basis.
- Updating all support, project and customer documentation where required.
- Assisting with administrative duties where required.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Organised and self-motivated.
- An ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage competing demands on their time.
- The ability to influence others, set expectations and plan and co-ordinate their own projects.
- A strong understanding of network technologies and the fundamentals of networking.
- Technical expertise in the full stack of Microsoft Technologies (Windows 10, Intune MDM, Active Directory, Azure, Security, MS365, etc).
- High level and low level solution design and implementation.
- Draytek (or similar) Unified Treat Management Systems and Firewalls.
- UniFi (or similar) Wireless access points, network switches.
- In depth understanding of network protocols, routing, subnets and VLANs.
- Full UK or Driving License or equivalent
Experience (Desired but not essential):
· AnyDesk/Pulseway/Automate - remote support tools.
· Professional qualifications CISCO, Microsoft etc
· Active Directory, Microsoft Entra
· Office 365 migration experience
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary: £36k-£40k per year (Depending on Experience).
- Core Hours Monday to Thursday 9.00am to 5.30pm and Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
