Are you a qualified and experienced Environmental Health Officer looking for a new challenge where you can make a tangible impact on the local community? We are seeking a dynamic, experienced EHO to join our busy team here at Derby. The Opportunity
In the role of Environmental Health Officer, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
- Inspect dwellings and enforce statutory provisions to ensure compliance with the authorities’ statutory obligations, and provide guidance, information, and training to landlords to aid their compliance.
- Prepare, monitor and authorise legal and other documentation, and to instigate legal proceedings to ensure compliance with the authorities’ statutory obligations
- To keep up to date with relevant legislation, standards, guidance, and other information to develop any appropriate specialist knowledge of relevant subject areas to ensure compliance with the statutory requirements.
- To attend and contribute to meetings, committees, public enquiries, tribunals, and court hearings in a technical, expert, or advisory capacity.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have…
- BSc or MSc in Environmental Health, backed by a Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB).
- Proven track record in a local authority or regulatory environment.
- Deep understanding of current UK housing legislation.
- Excellent negotiation, report-writing, and conflict-resolution skills.
