Overview
The role is to assist with preparing, delivering, installing and collection of Poster Board and other event equipment hire, including audio visual (AV) and furniture supplies.
This role is based within a small business, working in a shared warehouse and an office, travelling to and from UK conference and exhibition venues, working with Event Organiser's and other event contractor's.
The role is varied and requires a hard working customer focused individual who is conscientious and handles equipment with care.
This role requires someone who is willing and able to travel and be flexible, working some evenings and weekends, with some overnight stays when required (overtime / time in lieu available).
Due to occasionally working within schools employment is conditional to passing a DBS check.
The role includes:
- Preparation and maintenance of hire equipment, with joint responsibility to ensure safe/tidy storage within the warehouse.
- Loading, transporting and installation of hire equipment, mainly Poster Boards, AV and furniture for exhibitions and conferences. This involves manual lifting.
- Ensuring the right equipment is loaded, delivered to events on time and set-up professionally to the high standard the company has become known for.
- Any other tasks as and when required, for example occasional branding jobs which involves installing graphics etc.
Essential:
- Full UK (manual) driving license held for more than 2 years.
- The successful candidate must be confident to drive vans up to 3.5 tonnes.
- Flexibility; due to the nature of the events business you may be required to work early/late, weekends and bank holidays, as and when necessary (overtime / time in lieu available). As well as travelling and some overnight stays when required.
Desirable:
- Manual handling training.
- Working at height training.
- Basic joinery skills.
- A valid forklift licence.
- First aid skills.
(Training for the above desirable skills will be provided where necessary).
Other attributes that will be considered for the position include:
- A good understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace.
- Understanding scaled drawings.
- Basic IT skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Leadership and organisational skills.
- Basic vehicle maintenance.
Summary
The right candidate will be customer focused, organised, have an eye for detail and be open to learning new skills. The role requires someone who can work on their own and as part of a team and is able to manage their time well.
This opportunity will provide the successful candidate with new skills and experience and has the potential to lead on to an extended or more permanent contract in the future.
The standard working hours are 8.30am – 5pm Monday to Friday (40hrs a week) plus overtime at enhanced rate of pay.
Starting salary dependant on proven skills and level of experience.
