Teaching Assistant (maternity cover)

This is an exciting opportunity to provide high quality support for children helping them to overcome barriers to their learning.

Role: Teaching Assistant

Hours: 33 hours per week, term time only + Inset days

Contract: Fixed term maternity cover, ending on the return of the postholder (anticipated Summer 2027)

Salary: Grade 5, spine point 6-11, £20,582 - £22,287 actual (FTE £25,989 - £28,142)

Start date: September 2026

We are looking for a teaching assistant to work in partnership with classroom teachers, providing support for young people and helping them to overcome their barriers to learning. You will be able to use curriculum programmes to lead groups of students to promote literacy and numeracy, whilst providing feedback on progress and achievement.

This is an exciting opportunity because you will be providing high quality support for children including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, helping them to secure improvements in their academic achievements. The team works in a variety of ways, including providing 1-1 student support, providing academic intervention within specific Faculty zones and classrooms, playing a leading role in the school’s own inclusion base, and working closely with the pastoral team where targeted support to raise aspirations may be needed.

You will be joining a team of positive and thoughtful teaching assistants, who work effectively as both part of a team and individually, demonstrating initiatives and independent working.

Essential qualifications

All applicants require a minimum pass in English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent.

Pay: £25,989.00-£28,142.00 per year
