The role:
An opportunity has arisen for a full time Fixed Term/ Secondment for 9 months to cover maternity leave. This is based within the Personality Disorder and Homelessness Team, which is a city-wide team based in NW Glasgow, including working in various locations within GG&C. You will work with other members of the team to deliver mentalization based treatment (MBT) service. The post will have a role in the delivery of reflective practice and delivering training. Applicants should have training in one of the core mental health professions. You will be supported to develop your knowledge and skills as a therapist and to work towards MBT practitioner level. Experience working with personality disorder is desirable, as well as experience working in homeless settings. You will contribute to the Health efficiency & access to treatment targets (HEAT) as part of secondary care services.

Key responsibilities:
- Functioning as Named therapist within a multi-disciplinary team for a complex patient caseload requiring specialist mental health care undertaking named practitioner responsibilities for patients requiring care coordination where required.

The holistic assessment of complex care needs including risk assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist programmes of care with specific reference to MBT.

Carrying out all relevant forms of care pertinent to the needs of individual patients in the least restrictive and disruptive manner as possible.

Identifying, coordinating and responding to health promotion needs of patients focusing on improving the mental and physical well-being of patients.

Identifying, coordinating and responding to the needs of patients which might be related to vulnerability, gender, health, domestic abuse, adult/child protection and/or self-harm.

Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and carers with complex/ unstable care needs ensuring that needs are identified and met within a participative framework demonstrating principles of equality, dignity and respect accounting for spiritual and cultural diversity.

Working within agreed competency based parameters undertaking evidence based psychological therapies/ psychological approaches to care with individuals and/ or group settings.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential:

Professional qualification in one of the core mental health professions or equivalent practitioner training and experience in a relevant discipline, eg:
- Level 1 Registered Nurse in mental health with a currently valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Occupational Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
- Social Worker registered with the Scottish Social Services Council and significant post-registration experience

Educated to minimum degree level/ or equivalent

Completion of an evidence based psychological therapies/ psychological approaches to inform clinical practice

Specialist knowledge and application of mental health care (including physical healthcare)

Specialist knowledge and application of risk assessment/ factors impacting on metal health/ mental illness/ wellness and recovery

Evidence of active and ongoing CPD
Desirable:

Actively working towards postgraduate level/ or equivalent

Completed a recognised mentorship preparation programme/registered mentor
