An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) within the Research and Analysis team as an Intelligence Development Officer (IDO), based in Folkestone.
The Research and Analysis Team produces high quality research and analytical products to support all areas of CTPSE business.
The Intelligence Development Officer role is an exciting, varied and challenging role, and you will produce a wide range of high quality research products for many different customers, both internal and external.
We are looking for an outgoing, proactive and flexible candidate with a can-do attitude. At times, this role requires working unsocial hours, staying late and overcoming the unexpected in order to get the job done. In return, you will be working in an incredibly unique and diverse environment contributing to the fight on terrorism in the UK.
The ideal candidate will be a good team player with relevant experience in an intelligence environment, as an IDO, you will be required to:
Research using a range of systems including those available as open source
Collate and assess intelligence and, present your findings in intelligence products, summarising clearly, concisely and accurately
Identify intelligence gaps and recommendations, which are specific, achievable, and relevant
Conduct research which is compliant with legislation, for example IPA
Support live operational activity
Liaise with internal and external colleagues including Senior Investigating Officers to progress investigations into CT subjects of interest
Work in partnership with teams throughout CT Policing and the wider intelligence community
Support and respond to spontaneous/critical/major incidents and/or events within the remit of Policing

Although the working location is fixed, due to the nature of the role there is often a requirement to travel across the South East Region.
You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.
Once fully trained, the IDO role operates across a 7 days a week pattern with workday hours ranging between 08:00 - 19:00, this will attract a shift allowance that is in addition to the basic salary. Working hours and arrangements will be discussed at interview
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
