Overview
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Packaging Technologist to join our innovative NPD team. This role involves developing and refining primary and secondary packaging for our UK retailers and food service. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in digital design, graphic arts, and technical software, contributing to the visual and functional excellence of our packaging solutions. Duties
- Work closely with the Product Developers to develop primary and secondary packaging for new products which meets customer and Rhokett requirements.
- Ensure packaging is in place for factory trials and assist the Process Technologist in ensuring the packaging is fit for use in the factory.
- Carry out transit trials as required by customers to ensure packaging meets their requirements.
- Understand customer requirements and policies for packaging, eg sustainability policies, shelf dimensions, secondary packaging requirements etc.
- Support at pre-artwork meetings.
- Manage the generation and approval of artwork, including legal text, cutter guides, position and size of date code box, barcodes etc
- Ensure the Packaging Buyer is kept updated on any requirements for new packaging, and when it is required.
- Identify ways for continuous improvement on existing packaging and make recommendations to the team.
- Be responsible for streamlining packaging, where possible, across all customers,
- Implement and maintain an inventory of all boards, cutters, trays, outer cases available to use, (to reduce wastage)
- Manage the stock of packaging for the NPD team.
- Manage and update the packaging database to ensure all packaging details are accurate and up to date.
- Updating and maintaining retailer portals with specification details relevant to UK packaging regulations e.g. EPR
- Completing bi-annual EPR submissions for the company, including RAM grading
- Monitor and stay up to date with current and emerging packaging regulations, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are informed of any changes impacting the business.
- Occasional travel may be required to visit suppliers and customers.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food industry within packaging development and manufacturing, including working with retailers and suppliers
- Experience or qualification in food labelling requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail and colour accuracy.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and quick to learn

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
