The Role
This role is suited to an experienced Accountant with a strong, confident grasp of managing and overseeing financial records including the preparation of annual accounts and compliance tax work for sole traders, partnerships, LLPs and limited companies.
As an Accountant, you will deliver exceptional customer service to Mazuma’s clients, providing timely and insightful advice, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and regulatory standards. You will also play a crucial role in ensuring that deadlines are met and supporting our team of bookkeepers. You will need to be comfortable working in a tech-first environment, using MazApp, our proprietary, cutting-edge software platform.
About the role:
- Preparing/reviewing year end accounts for sole traders, limited companies and partnerships
- Preparing self-assessments
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Corporation Tax returns
- Advising clients on a range of accounting and tax matters.
- Ensuring all deadlines and internal SLAs are consistently met
- Work in a systems-first way, using technology to drive accuracy, efficiency and scalability
- Actively engage with training and development, taking ownership of your professional progression
- Work closely with the Bookkeepers and the Accounting Team Manager to resolve queries and improve processes
- Consistently demonstrate the Mazuma values
About You:
You are an experienced Accountant with an AAT level 4 (or equivalent). You are technically sound, highly organised, and comfortable working at pace in a structured, technology-led environment
You will need to be intellectually curious, open-minded, and willing to challenge traditional ways of working.
You will bring:
- Solid, practical experience in Accountancy with demonstrable year end, tax and VAT return expertise
- High confidence using accounting software and digital tools, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Strong IT skills and numerical accuracy
- Outstanding communication skills to support our portfolio of clients
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and high levels of personal accountability
- An open and adaptable approach, with a willingness to work differently to traditional accountancy firms
