Job overview

We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and clinically capable Band 5 Trained Nurse to join our nursing team for our 22 bedded Ward on Heligan Ward at St Austell Community Hospital. The Trained Nurse role requires the post holder to be committed to the ongoing development of the ward and multi-disciplinary team working. We aim to deliver the highest standard of patient and rehabilitative care to our predominantly elderly patients.

The ideal applicant will possess a good level of organisational, communication and clinical skills relevant to the post and be able to act as a positive role model.

We require motivated, forward thinkers with a “can-do” attitude and a passion for nursing. In return we will support you in your career and involve you in the future development of services.

Main duties of the job

The assessment of care needs and the development and implementation of programmes of care in the ward setting

To be a team leader and provide all forms of nursing care without direct supervision.

To provide mentorship to pre and post registration students and Healthcare Assistants undertaking the National Vocational Awards.

St Austell Community Hospital offers services focusing on assessment, rehabilitation and palliative care.

Facilities Include:

2 in-patient wards - Harold White and Heligan
Minor Injury Unit
Out-patient department
Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Departments
X-ray Department
Community Nurse Base
Podiatry
