Job Purpose
The Trainee Car Sales Executive role is structured to take high-energy, ambitious individuals with an affinity for customer care and transform them into elite, process-driven automotive sales professionals. You do not need previous car sales experience. You will be fully guided through a structured onboarding program that covers consumer legislation, compliance, financial services integration, and modern digital sales techniques.
Your core mission is to manage inbound digital inquiries, handle physical showroom walk-ins, and build long-term relationships with guests. You will learn to guide buyers through a transparent, consultative sales process—matching their lifestyle needs to the perfect vehicle, funding profile, and ownership protection products.
Core Responsibilities & Accountabilities1. The Sales Process & Volume Delivery
- Digital Lead Management: Rapidly respond to inbound digital, telephone, and portal (e.g., AutoTrader) inquiries within dealership response windows.
- Showroom Hosting: Greet all physical showroom walk-ins warmly, building initial rapport and qualifying their needs through professional, consultative dialogue.
- Product Presentations: Develop an expert knowledge of vehicle features, safety configurations, and technical specifications. Deliver high-impact physical and personalized video (e.g., CitNOW) vehicle presentations.
- Test Drive Management: Plan and execute safe, professional test drive routes that highlight the vehicle’s technology and performance features while maintaining strict compliance with insurance protocols.
2. Financial Services & Deal Structuring
- FCA Compliance: Learn and adhere strictly to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations. Present finance products (PCP, Hire Purchase) transparently, ensuring fair customer outcomes.
- Add-on Product Presentation: Introduce value-added protection products, including GAP insurance, paint protection, and extended service plans, to enhance the customer's ownership experience.
- Part-Exchange Appraisals: Conduct physical inspections and detailed data profiling of customer part-exchange vehicles, ensuring accurate information is gathered for valuation.
3. Data Integrity & System Compliance
- Showroom Logging: Ensure every customer interaction, phone call, and web lead is logged in real-time with 100% data accuracy within the central CRM system (e.g., Dealerweb).
- Diary Discipline: Maintain a clean sales diary, executing scheduled follow-up actions, appointment confirmations, and post-delivery satisfaction calls on time.
- Digital Brand Standards: Help maintain the virtual showroom by tracking physical stock levels, ensuring correct window pricing, and verifying that live vehicle listings feature crisp, comprehensive imagery.
4. Handover & Technical Activation
- The Delivery Experience: Coordinate and execute premium vehicle handover ceremonies, creating a memorable, high-satisfiction experience for the customer.
- Connectivity Activation: Guide every delivery guest through downloading and activating the vehicle’s connected manufacturer apps, ensuring 100% system configuration before they drive off the pitch.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
- The Character: Highly resilient, driven, and possessing exceptional active listening skills. You must be comfortable working to structured monthly volume targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Pay: £15,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
