To provide three and two course meals for the clients of Silver Socials Club, Meals on wheels service clients Tuesday to Friday. To organise plan and cook a three course Sunday Lunch on the second Sunday of each month, supervise the volunteers of the Sunday Lunch Club. To plan and cook more elaborate meals for celebrations of special events, Fund raising events, such as Christmas, Brunches, quiz nights etc.
Duties and responsibilities
Plan and organise the cooking of a varied menu of three and two course meals for the clients of the Silver Social Club, Meals on Wheels service, Sunday Lunch Club in accordance with their dietary requirements, tastes and adhering to ACW budget, minimising waste food.
To organise and run the Sunday Lunch on the 2nd Sunday of the month including, the menu, food, managing the volunteers who help and ensuring any charges are taken from Clients.
To order ingredients for the meals adhering to ACWs budget and with minimal waste while still providing high, quality tasty food.
To plan and organise the cooking of other food items such as cakes, biscuits and snacks for fund raising events and more elaborate meals for special events or fund raisers where a meal is being served, such as quiz nights or brunches., including the delivery of additional ingredients
To monitor the freezer and kitchen appliances for any problems
To maintain a high standard of food hygiene and keep up to date with changes to food hygiene law and advise on any changes or maintenance work on kitchen equipment, required to keep up to date.
Abide by all regulations regarding the preparation, cooking, storage and serving of food.
To wash and or organise cleaning of all items used in cooking and items needed to eat or drink within the Centre. To advise if any items need replacing or items are needed.
To supervise volunteers helping within the kitchen and at Sunday Lunch club
To give excellent customer service to all customers, volunteers and staff.
To report any problems with the kitchen or it’s appliances to the Deputy manager
To help plan and run a Cooking for Fun group for clients who enjoy cooking.
To when needed attend to the needs of clients such as, but not limited to, making conversation, assisting them with walking or giving reminders of where things are.
To attend and participate in training and staff meetings as required
To abide by Age Concern Windsor policies and procedures
