Mechanical/Electrical Workshop/Site Fitter
The Mechanical/Electrical Fitter plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our equipment across both workshop and customer sites. This hands-on role involves assembly, installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair work on lifting frames, hoists, safety lines, and associated equipment.
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex mechanical and electrical problems, takes pride in high-quality workmanship, and works well as part of a collaborative team. The successful candidate will be proactive, safety-focused, and capable of managing tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Supporting the Operations Director and Workshop Manager to receive, record service/repair, and inspect client equipment, including the following:
· Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults through inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and operational assessment of equipment.
· Perform servicing, maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and component replacement on lifting frames, hoists, safety lines, and associated equipment in both workshop and site environments.
· Dismantle and reassemble equipment as required to identify faults, repair defective components, and restore operational performance.
· Read and interpret technical drawings, hydraulic and electrical schematics, workshop manuals, and service instructions to complete work accurately and efficiently.
· Conduct inspections, testing, and certification activities in accordance with company procedures, industry standards, and safety requirements.
· Identify and report required parts, consumables, equipment issues, and repair recommendations to support efficient maintenance outcomes.
· Maintain accurate service records, maintenance histories, inspection documentation, timesheets, and electronic maintenance system entries.
· Support workshop and site operations through equipment preparation, installation activities, loading/unloading, and general operational assistance as required.
· Participate in site inductions, comply with Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and adhere to all company safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
· Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safe work practices, and situational awareness, including identifying and reporting hazards or unsafe conditions.
· Communicate effectively with the Workshop Manager and broader team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
· Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment focused on reliability, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Trade certified – Plant Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic / Fitter & Machinist – RQF Level 3 – Mechanical Fitting/ Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Proven experience in hydraulic/electrical systems is advantageous.
- Fluent in interpreting workshop manuals and service instructions.
- Use of measuring equipment (e.g., rulers, Vernier’s feeler gauges, dial test indicators).
- Use of small machine shop related equipment.
- Ability to read, interpret and record pressure gauge readings.
- Ability to work autonomously, unsupervised.
- Drivers licence (unrestricted).
- Industry specific site safety induction cards.
- Basic computer literacy skills for online inductions, timesheet keeping and MEX.
- Computer literacy to enter and manage records in an electronic maintenance system.
Desirable:
- Experience in the Crane/Hoist Systems
- Experience in Working at Height
- Experience with close-loop hydraulic circuits
- Experience with electrical circuits
- Current MR licence – manual synchro
- Confined Space ticket
- EWP Operator Ticket (yellow card, below 11m)
- Working Safely at Heights certificate or equivalent
- Industry specific site safety induction cards.
- First aid certificate
- Valid and current passport for domestic and/or international travel

SAFETY & WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Requirement to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hat, climbing hat, safety glasses, protective boots, gloves, and high visibility clothing.
- Requirement to work at heights using safety harnesses and lanyards.
- Requirement to work outdoors in varying climatic conditions.
- Safe handling and lifting of materials and components of varying weights.
- Exposure to varying levels of noise and vibration at varying site locations.
- Ability to use a computer and keyboard to type and produce documentation.
- Ability to verbally communicate with various stakeholders.
- Will need to attend varying industrial/construction sites, therefore be accredited with the appropriate safety induction certifications.
- Will need to be able to drive a vehicle to attend customer sites for maintenance and installation activities.
Pay: £24,420.00-£35,000.00 per year
