Full job description

Job Function

Reporting to the Technical Director, the key objectives for this role are to maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 1090, ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The role includes ownership of the Quality Manual and all associated processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Maintaining the Company’s ongoing certification status for ISO 9001:2015 / ISO 1090 including the control of the Quality Manual
Ensure all standard operating procedures, work instructions, and records are current and controlled
Lead QMS implementation, updates, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure alignment of QMS with business strategy and operational processes
Plan and conduct internal audits against ISO 9001:2015 / ISO 1090
Coordinate external audits (certification and surveillance)
Full reporting of and ensuring timely resolution of any non-compliance and implementing preventative/ continuous improvement actions as required
Manage non-conformances, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer-specific requirements
Monitor KPIs and quality objectives
Analyse data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
Drive root cause analysis
Lead continuous improvement projects across departments
Maintain document control system (revision control, approvals, distribution)
Ensure proper record retention and traceability
Oversee change management processes
Ensure employees understand quality policies and procedures
Manage customer complaints and feedback
Coordinating external audits by customers and or accredited regulatory/certification bodies
Support supplier evaluation and performance monitoring
Report on QMS performance to leadership
Prepare and present Management Review
Conducting regular review meetings, documenting key issues and recording necessary actions for compliance and or continuous improvement
Assist with conducting Risk Assessments and compiling Method Statements for the Company’s operational practices
Perform independent visual/dimensional inspection of component parts and complete fabricated/welded assemblies
Conduct 1st off and sample inspections, where needed, to ensure the capability of manufacturing processes is established and maintained
Carry out inspection tasks in other areas when necessary, including supplier/sub-contractor activity and goods receiving
Maintain the company’s calibration system, ensuring that measuring equipment is used correctly and kept in a suitable condition
Working alongside engineering and production staff to reduce/eliminate scrap and rework.
Monitor waste disposal practices and environmental compliance
Promote sustainability initiatives and reduce environmental impacts of operations

Skills, qualifications and experience

Experience of working in a Quality role and a strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 / ISO 1090 requirements, preferably gained in an engineering / manufacturing environment
Experience in quality control/inspection
Internal auditor training and qualifications for ISO 9001 / ISO 1090 (this is an essential requirement for the role but training can be provided)
Ideally some experience of leading continuous improvement initiatives
Computer literacy – minimum MS Excel and MS Word

Able to evaluate information quickly, identify key issues and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgement, experience, and common sense
Able to work independently as well as contribute as a key member of the Company’s management team
Ability to assess and prioritise workload independently
Have strong personal values, integrity, trust, honesty and respect for others
Able to clearly and effectively communicate with colleagues, suppliers and customers
Possess a high level of verbal and written communication skills for a demanding and customer focused working environment

Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
