What you need to know about the role
We are seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to support and enhance the digital and operational capabilities of our steelwork’s environment.
This role sits at the intersection of technology, manufacturing, and heavy industry, ensuring that IT solutions align with the complex needs of steel production, maintenance, logistics, and safety‑critical operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with central functions as well as operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders across the steelworks to understand operational challenges, system needs, and improvement opportunities.
- Document detailed business and functional requirements for new systems, enhancements, and integrations.
- Analyse existing processes to identify inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for digital optimisation.
- Map end‑to‑end processes across production, maintenance, logistics, and quality functions.
- Work with IT teams and vendors to design, configure, and implement solutions that support steelmaking operations (e.g., MES, SCADA, ERP, maintenance systems).
- Collaborate with data teams to define reporting requirements for production performance, downtime, quality metrics, and maintenance KPIs.
- Support the development of dashboards and analytics that drive operational decision‑making.
- Build strong relationships with operational leaders, engineers, and frontline teams.
What we need to know about you
- Proven experience as an IT Business Analyst, ideally within manufacturing, heavy industry, or steelworks.
- Strong understanding of industrial processes, production workflows, and maintenance operations.
- Experience with systems such as S4 Hana, Microsoft Business Central and the wider Microsoft Ecosystem.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work in a fast‑paced, operational environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels - from shop‑floor operators to senior management.
- Ability to translate complex operational needs into clear IT requirements.
- Familiarity with safety‑critical environments and the importance of reliability and uptime.
