Blackfriars Restaurant has recently expanded its in-house Cookery School with a fantastic state-of-the-art facility boasting brand new equipment, composite worktops, its own dedicated pot wash and dining areas - all within our ornate former 13th century former Dominican friary. We are looking for an experienced chef to join our cookery school team.

THE PACKAGE
Cookery School Chef would typically earn approx. ~£31k- £36k per annum (depending on experience) based on a 40-hour week (including basic, tronc (paid through PAYE system). You will work shifts over 4-5 days in accordance with the cookery school scheduled classes. Shifts will be 6-12 hours between 8am and 10pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The main purpose of this role will be to inspire groups of adults & children in delivering fun and interactive cookery classes.
- Inspire and entertain home cooks at all ability levels, developing their confidence and cooking skills.
- You will be required to plan, prepare and deliver cookery classes providing an engaging cookery experience that is relatable to home cooks.
- Ensure all relevant food safety, health, hygiene, fire and safety regulations are adhered to correctly.
- Assisting with classes including pot wash, making/serving drinks and taking payments.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 2 years’ experience as a chef with the ability to cook to a high standard.
- Essential knowledge of bread-making, butchery, filleting, pastry and chocolate work.
- Good knowledge of world cuisines and an eye on current food trends.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-facing manner.
- Basic use of word processing software for writing and adapting recipes.
- 2 years’ experience training or teaching others, preferably at all levels.
