Full job description

We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Education & Nurture Practitioner to serve as the bridge between emotional turmoil and academic potential. In this role, you won't just be teaching; you will be rebuilding trust, offering stability, and proving to a young person that they are capable of success.

This is a role for a specialist who understands that before a child can learn, they must feel safe. You will be the steady hand that guides a young person through their barriers, transforming "bad behaviour" into a breakthrough in confidence.

What You Will Do

Build Trust & Regulation: You will break down barriers for children who are wary of adults. Using patience, play, and empathy, you will create a safe space where the child feels regulated and ready to engage.
Unlock Academic Potential: You will deliver creative, adaptive 1:1 sessions (focusing on Maths and core skills) for children who struggle in mainstream classrooms. You will find the learning style that works for them when standard methods have failed.
Lead the Support Network: You will act as the "glue" connecting families, teachers, and therapists. You ensure the child’s support system is communicating effectively and pulling in the same direction.
Champion Holistic Progress: Whether it’s mastering a fraction or managing a difficult emotion without conflict, you will celebrate every win. You measure success not just by grades, but by emotional growth.

Who You Are

We are looking for more than just a tutor; we are looking for a resilient role model.

SEMH Expert: You have proven experience working with SEN/SEMH needs. You fundamentally understand that challenging behaviour is a form of communication for unmet needs, not simply "acting out."
Developmentally Aware: You understand Early Child Development. Experience with Toddlers/Early Years is a significant advantage, as you understand how missed milestones in early childhood impact older children’s ability to learn and regulate.
Resilient & Empathetic: You do not take rejection personally. You offer kindness and consistency even on the difficult days.
Mobile: You hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle (essential for this role).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £510.00-£550.00 per week

Education:

A-Level or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

Special education: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

Driving Licence (required)
