About Us
Avid Installation Solutions is a specialist audio visual and electrical contractor. In simple terms, we build the infrastructure that enables AV and communication systems to operate reliably, securely, and to a high standard.
For more than 18 years, our small, skilled team has delivered projects across a wide range of environments, including courts, high-profile sporting venues, places of worship, and educational settings; anywhere that depends on clear, dependable audio and video communication.
Much of our work takes place behind the scenes in secure and high-profile locations, installing the systems that allow people to communicate effectively through audio and video links.
We are currently delivering a large-scale communications project across multiple secure sites, while continuing to support longstanding clients and new projects throughout Central and Northern England.
Why We're Hiring
We've recently secured a contract and are looking for the right people to help us deliver it successfully.
This is important, detail-focused installation work in environments where accuracy and professionalism matter. We're building a small, focused team that takes pride in doing the job properly and getting it right first time.
In this role, you'll work alongside that team installing AV and data infrastructure, primarily during evenings and weekends, helping us meet the high standards our clients expect.
We've got the projects, the systems, and the support in place; now we're looking for the right people to join us and help deliver exceptional results.
Why You’ll Enjoy Working With Us
- Well-paid role, reflecting the responsibility and the standard of work expected.
- Varied work environments - from secure sites to sporting venues and more. No two weeks look the same.
- When working away, you’re properly looked after - decent hotels, your own room, and your evening meal covered.
- Expenses covered when travelling for projects.
- A small, tight-knit team, no egos, just good people who get on and get the job done.
- A role where you’re trusted - you won’t be micromanaged, but you will be expected to deliver.
- Interesting, high-spec work in environments that most people never get to see.
- Standard benefits including paid holidays and pension.
Is This the Best Kind of Electrical / AV Installation Job Out There?
This isn’t your standard electrical job.
You’re not chasing work. You’re not quoting jobs. You’re not wondering where the next project is coming from. We’ve got a steady pipeline of work and a clear plan, you just need to turn up and deliver.
Every job comes with a clear specification. You know exactly what needs doing, and you’ve got a team around you to get it done properly.
The work itself is more involved than typical electrical installs. It’s not repetitive or mundane. You’ll be installing AV and data infrastructure in environments that require thought, attention to detail, and problem-solving. If you like using your brain as well as your hands, you’ll enjoy this.
And at the end of a project, there’s a real sense of satisfaction. You’ve worked as part of a solid team, delivered something properly, and you know it’s been done to a high standard.
The Package (What You’ll Earn)
Basic salary: £36,000-£42,000 depending on experience.
If you’ve got the right electrical and data/comms experience, you’ll be at the top end of that or above it.
On top of your base salary, there’s a fixed bonus for weekend work. Most of this project runs evenings and weekends, so this adds up over the year.
You’ll also get:
- Paid holidays
- Pension contributions
- Expenses covered when working away (including accommodation and meals)
All in, this is a role where you can expect to earn more than a typical employed electrician — especially if you’re experienced and reliable.
The Perfect Candidate
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and shows up with the right attitude every day.
You will need a full, clean driving licence.
More important than anything is attitude. We are looking for someone with a positive mental attitude, who is reliable, hardworking and a genuine team player. Someone polite, steady, and easy to work with. Attention to detail matters too.
In terms of skills and experience, you will need:
- Electrical and data communications experience
- Any audio visual experience is a real bonus
- A relevant electrical qualification
- 18th Edition (essential)
- City & Guilds 2391 (inspection and testing) preferred
- Asbestos awareness, manual handling, working at height training can be provided if needed.
This is not a dull, repetitive role. The work is varied and often different from one day to the next, so we are looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving and troubleshooting. Someone who can think on their feet and adapt when plans change.
We work to high standards and we do things properly, so attention to detail is important. You do need to take pride in your work and enjoy being part of a team that cares about what it delivers.
This role suits someone who doesn’t just want a job, but wants to be part of something where no two days are the same.
You need to have a good sense of humour but that’s not because the wages we pay are a joke!
Security and eligibility
Because of the environments we work in, you must have the right to work in the UK and be able to pass security clearance and vetting checks. This will include background checks and may require a consistent 5-year address history. You must be comfortable working in secure and sometimes high-profile locations.
What a typical working day looks like
No two days are the same, but a typical job will involve travelling to site in the late afternoon or evening and working as part of a small team.
On arrival, you’ll check in with site security and sign in as required. The early part of the job usually involves planning, testing and investigating the site, confirming cable routes and working through the installation plan with the team.
The work itself can involve running cables and communications infrastructure, which may include lifting floorboards, working above ceilings, or accessing different parts of a building as needed.
If working away from home, the day may finish late, with travel to local accommodation, before returning to site the following day.
Weekends, where worked, are typically structured day shifts, with reasonable breaks for lunch and food.
As we are working under confined time limits, frequent unscheduled breaks are not compatible with the nature of the work.
Evenings may involve time away from site and meals with the team if staying overnight.

- The North of England
- Birmingham and the wider Midlands
Some travel and occasional working away from home will be required depending on the project.
