Estimator – Doorsets & Fire Protection Solutions
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + Benefits
Our client is a rapidly growing and highly respected specialist within the doorset, fire protection, and compliance sector. With significant investment in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, advanced production technology, and a strong reputation for quality and compliance, they provide complete lifecycle solutions across commercial, healthcare, education, residential, defence, and public-sector projects throughout the UK.
As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their established commercial team.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Estimator with experience in doorsets, joinery, or related construction products to play a key role in delivering accurate, competitive quotations and supporting project success from enquiry through to handover.
You will work closely with sales, commercial, and operational teams, ensuring quotations are prepared accurately, on time, and in line with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed and accurate quotations for bespoke doorset packages, joinery products, and associated items.
- Review tender documentation and specifications, identifying any discrepancies, omissions, or opportunities for clarification.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and present recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support customers with project-specific enquiries and technical queries.
- Maintain effective document control and confidently navigate electronic filing systems and databases.
- Work collaboratively with the sales team to maximise tender opportunities and conversion rates.
- Attend internal project handover meetings to ensure successful transition of secured projects to the delivery team.
- Participate in client meetings when required to discuss quotations, specifications, and project requirements.
- Ensure all quotations are returned within agreed timescales and aligned with customer deadlines.
Key Performance Indicators
- Estimating output against agreed monthly targets.
- Timely submission of quotations.
- Quotation accuracy and quality.
- Conversion rates in line with business objectives.
- Compliance with internal quality and non-conformance standards.
About You
The successful candidate will be a motivated and organised professional with strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous estimating experience within construction, joinery, doorsets, or a related sector.
- Good understanding of doors and doorset products.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workload effectively.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong team player with a proactive and positive attitude.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- VLOOKUPs
- Formulas and functions
- Pivot Tables
- Data analysis and reporting
Desirable
- Technical knowledge of architectural ironmongery.
- Experience working within fire-rated products, passive fire protection, or specialist joinery environments.
