Job Description

What you’ll be doing
As a qualified Dispensing Optician, you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in one of our stores, reporting to the Store Manager.

Key responsibilities

Providing clinical support in store for regulated dispensing
Inspiring your Optical team by sharing your knowledge to offer the very best service.
Listening to the needs of customers and offer expertise and advice.
Helping our customers to choose the correct eyewear and offer guidance to ensure our customers receive the best product suited to their needs.
Supporting the team to deliver an efficient model day and operational processes to ensure that the business trades legally.
Providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements.

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)

Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
Passion for your own learning and development, completing all CPD training as part of the GOC requirement.

Services delivered in store: This growing Boots Opticians store delivers exceptional patient care through a range of NHS and private optical services, supported by Optomap technology. The store has 2 testing rooms, one of which is shared with Boots Hearingcare, creating a collaborative healthcare environment focused on delivering the very best patient experience.

Team structure: You will join a supportive and established team including 2 Resident Optometrists and experienced optical colleagues. The team is known for its welcoming culture and commitment to supporting both professional development and outstanding patient care.

Located on a busy retail park with free parking available, this store offers excellent accessibility for both customers and colleagues. Biggleswade is a thriving Bedfordshire market town with excellent road and rail links to London, Cambridge and surrounding areas, making it an attractive location for commuters.
