About the Programme
Connect to Work is a voluntary Supported Employment programme funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and commissioned across Surrey to support people who are disabled, have long-term health conditions, or face complex barriers to employment. The programme supports both people looking for work and those already in employment who need support to retain their job.
Delivered through the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF), Connect to Work follows a place, train and maintain model. This person-centred approach matches individuals with suitable employment opportunities, provides tailored support to help them succeed in the workplace, and offers ongoing in-work support to both participants and employers to promote sustainable, long-term employment outcomes.
About The Role - Lead the Way in Workplace Inclusion
Salary: £33,048 to £35,535
Location: Surrey (Staines/Guilford), community-based delivery.
Hours: 37.5 hours
Travel: This is a community-based role, so candidates must be flexible and willing to travel across Surrey to meet and support customers in a variety of locations.

We're looking for an Occupational Inclusion Specialist to join our Connect to Work team, helping businesses remove barriers, embrace inclusive recruitment, and create workplaces where people with disabilities, health conditions and complex needs can succeed.
This is an exciting opportunity to combine your expertise in occupational health, vocational rehabilitation or workplace inclusion with your passion for making a real difference. Working closely with employers and Employment Specialists, you'll provide practical advice and tailored solutions that improve opportunities for individuals while helping businesses unlock diverse talent. You could be carrying out a workplace assessment, supporting an employer to implement reasonable adjustments, networking with local businesses, or helping redesign a role to better match a candidate's strengths. Every day you'll be helping create more inclusive workplaces and sustainable employment outcomes.
What You'll Be doing
- Working with employers to build confidence in inclusive recruitment, onboarding and employee retention.
- Providing expert advice on reasonable adjustments, workplace accessibility and inclusive employment practices.
- Conducting job task analysis and workplace assessments to identify opportunities for role adaptation or redesign.
- Supporting Employment Specialists to match individuals with suitable opportunities based on their skills, aspirations and support needs.
- Developing employer wellbeing and inclusion initiatives, including awareness sessions, training and practical guidance.
- Building relationships with local and national employers to create new inclusive employment opportunities.
- Organising employer engagement events and networking activities that promote disability inclusion.
- Supporting businesses to become more inclusive through initiatives such as Disability Confident and workplace wellbeing programmes.
- Advising on Access to Work, assistive technology, workplace support planning and health disclosures.
- Attending workplace visits and post-placement reviews to ensure adjustments remain effective and sustainable.
- Working collaboratively with health professionals, clinical teams and community partners to provide joined-up support around health and employment.
- Maintaining accurate records while contributing insight, learning and success stories across the wider programme.
What we're looking for
You'll be someone who combines technical expertise with a practical, people-focused approach and enjoys building strong relationships with employers. You'll bring:
- Experience in occupational health, vocational rehabilitation, disability employment, HR or another workplace inclusion role.
- A strong understanding of reasonable adjustments, assistive technology and inclusive recruitment practices.
- Knowledge of Supported Employment or the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF).
- Knowledge of Access to Work or similar employment support programmes.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and drive positive change.
- A genuine passion for creating opportunities and improving workplace inclusion.
- The resilience and determination to work in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality support.
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, with the ability to work within supported employment fidelity standards.
- The flexibility to work across community settings and travel throughout the city.
It would be great (but not essential) if you also have:
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Experience supporting SMEs or organisations without dedicated HR or occupational health functions.
- An understanding of the social model of disability and trauma-informed practice.
- Knowledge of local labour markets and the barriers faced by underrepresented groups.
- A qualification in occupational health, vocational rehabilitation or workplace assessment.
