What we offer:

Job Title: Accounts Assistant (term-time)

Contract: 15 hours per week, Monday & Thursday 9.00am-5.00pm

Salary: £10,440 per annum

The role:

Education 1st is a growing Alternative Learning Provider, and we’re looking for a proactive and detail oriented Accounts Assistant to support both our finance and people functions.

This is a varied role ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership and wants to develop across accounts in a supportive, expanding organisation with the benefit of working term-time only. You will also be required to work a maximum of 6 days outside of term time to support key administrative periods. These days will be arranged in advance by giving you no less than 2 weeks' notice

Main Responsibilities:

Sales Ledger & Debt Management

Generate and issue sales invoices and credit notes.
Monitor the aged debtor report regularly to track outstanding balances.
Conduct proactive credit control and follow up on overdue payments.

Purchase Ledger & Expenses

Process, verify, and post supplier invoices efficiently within Xero.
Review, reconcile, and process weekly employee expense and mileage claims.

Reconciliations & Banking

Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash flow tracking.
Post and reconcile company credit card transactions against receipts.

Month-End Support

Assist with month-end procedures up to Trial Balance.
Prepare and post necessary journal entries.

Team Support

Undertake ad-hoc administrative and financial tasks to support the wider department.

About You

Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounts / finance
AAT Level 2 (Level 3 or studying desirable)
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Confident working independently
Strong Excel and accounting software skills
